Ladies and Gentlefish! Welcome to The Extravaganza!
Welcome ladies and gentlemen! I am the im`presario of this little business! This is my official first post, so it's going to be the most boring post haha- sorry kids. But here's the sum total: Yes, reading Fan Fictions can be hella- fun, however there is always some regulations with anything out in this world. I don't have too many rules, but just a few that are mostly common sense. They're not even rules really, but, just different tidbits I feel that I should speak on. So let's get started!:
- Number One: Warnings Are Our Friends
I say this because usually when I read a fanfiction, I get a few surprises that weren't said before I read it. For example, a good friend of mine had wrote a fanfiction and simply said," It's About Teen Titans". And I was like," Hells Yeah" Because Teen Titans was the stuff when it first aired! But anyways, I was reading and reading- and gradually, my expression went from a smile of excitement to a traumatized frown of horror and disgust; She didn't think to say anything about all of the incest, bestiality, rape and gruesome murder in the story. "Haha, Psymon's so cool! I probably should warn her about the disturbing scenes- nah." So yeah, please. Please. PLEASE- Just give me a warning. I mean, if you have sex and violence in your story- it's seriously awesome, because that's what makes anything interesting- but please don't forget to tell me. Something along the lines of. "Hey Psy, my story's title is "(something awesome)" and it has MA Content, or X content, or G, PG, PG-13, or R." Would be much obliged :D
- Number Two: Confidence Vs. Cockiness
Okay, so I've had a few experiences with this as well. Some writers are like," Yeah, you can read it- but I think it's crap." But that doesn't really help me, because if YOU, the f*cking writer thinks it's bad- then what am I going to think about it? So if you think your work needs a little improvement before you send it in, that's fine- but please don't doubt your talents, not everything we write is going to be golden(unless you're Stephen King or Anne Rice!) HOWEVER, this does NOT give you the right to be like," Well- this story is so good, you'll probably lose some people without it." If you think it's really good- again that's fine- but don't make it seem as anyone here will die without your work, because even though it's a privilege for me to read it, its a privilege for you to even have it on someone's blog. So respect is in order for everyone, which leads me to my last rule.
- Number Three: R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me! *snap* Respect is a number one priority on this blog, anything we do, we do it out of respect. When we comment, we comment with respect or we don't comment at all. When I review stories, I respectfully review it or I won't review it at all, and when you send something in, you send it in with respect or you don't send it at all. I apologize for making this seem like a penitentiary, but I just feel like if this was lawless, it would be hell on Earth. So anything you don't like, you do like, you want to comment on, you want to share- do it with respect. And these are all of the commandments!
- Number Four: Common Courtesy
When I say that, I just mean to check your work before you turn it in- anything to grammar to spelling to different things you might want to change. I mean, think about it. You might have a racist joke in there you thought was so hilarious- but forget to take it out, or you might have messed up some kind of - I don't know, please, just check it! Give it a nice little cavity search *hehe*!
Hold on you guys! Before I end this post, I would just like to say some thing that involves me and you. Sometimes, we're not perfect- especially me. I am the dullest knife in the place where you keep knives. I'm duller than a butter knife. Anyways, I like some things, and I don't like some things. If I don't like something of yours, I will not write a bad review on it. I'll simply send you an e-mail saying that I didn't like it, but I'll encourage that we exchange stories if you have anything else you might want to show me.
